STUDY THE BIBLE IN CONTEXT

Why we keep studying is because there are a lot to know from the Bible in context. We don't read just because we don't know the passage. Many of us have read the entire Bible over and over again. Do we assume we understood everything how it ought to be? Nope. We keep studying.... To whom was it written? Why was it written? When was it written? Who wrote/said it? What's the pretext saying? What followed (post-text) of the verse? Its relevance to doctrine. How often was it said? Symbolic or just a saying?

Knowing stuffs like that makes us to study IN CONTEXT. Many claim the Spirit is able to teach... However, if the spirit they claim explains a text to them outside the context, I'm afraid they are only reading their mind into it. Friend, the Bible is not against proper studying of the Scripture, it was a way for sound doctrine, a guide in RIGHTEOUSNESS.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: DO NOT follow after people who say we don't need to study... They say the spirit is able to teach us. Let's quickly examine what Jesus meant in context.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The attribute of the Spirit here is to comfort them by reminding them what Jesus ALREADY said to them.

The "All things" the Spirit was going to teach to them was an elaboration on what they ALREADY LEARNT. In latter chapter Jesus said.

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The Holy Spirit was going to teach them based on what they already learnt which could not be far from what the scripture truly says because Jesus taught them from the scripture.

Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Paul did the same and wrote his Epistles from the principle of Jesus Christ.

Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. Because of this, he wrote to the Romans.

Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. You are still there? Because of the importance of studying in context, he wrote to Timothy, his dear son, who had received the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This proper study and teaching was what he called RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH.

There is a right way to studying from the scripture, and this the way the Spirit can help... Studying in context. Proper studying. The "letter that killeth" is not exegesis (sound explanation of Bible texts) as so many claim.

2 Corinthians 3, juxtaposed the law, a ministration of death and the Spirit a ministration of Life. It doesn't in anyway teach against proper Bible study as many say today when they are confused in-between text. It only tells you to study more.

Study more in Context. You can't be full of YOURSELF and yet want to study. Be full of Christ and his love instead. Carry with you the goggles of GRACE. Let the true Spirit have expression in you as you study more on what was already taught, the Epistles. [The Epistles, an explanation of the Scripture.]

The spirit will only teach and expound to you what was already taught. He will not give you Rhemas that are not consistent with what was already written. With this you can know that you must Study contextually. .......... [He's an Eternal Spirit, he'll teach on Eternal things.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, He's Seal of the Believer in Christ. The spirit teaches just that.

Let no man say the Spirit teaches him that there is nothing like Eternal salvation for the Believer... It's not consistent with neither Jesus' teaching nor the Epistles.]

Contextual Study does not negate the Spirit and vice versa. Hope this helps someone?

Blessed.
