THE TRUTH ABOUT SELF-APPRECIATION

Human beings are superior to each other and as such, we have the saying that “all fingers are not equal”. However, no matter how small the little finger is, it is still one of the reasons why a person is complete. That is, it makes the complete fingers, and makes the fingers beautifully. Its importance is of great value that cannot be estimated.

There are so many things that the little finger can do that the longer fingers cannot. An example is trying to use the little finger to ease itching in the inner part of the ear, the little finger can reach and help scratch the itch more easily than the big fingers. However, the little finger cannot do without the longer fingers also, especially when it comes to lifting heavy objects.

From this little illustration, we can see that all the fingers are equally important just as everyone of us is important and are of great value. Humans are dependent on each other’s potential to survive and that’s what makes everyone unique—I have what you don’t have and I’m willing to share or help you out.

Take an exemplary look at the market, some have goods but have no money, while some have money but no goods, then, exchange of potential takes place, and this brings satisfaction and living a purposeful life.

You need to understand that value doesn’t just take its place in you until you accept it. Until you accept that you are important, that is when you are truly important and every part of you begins to act as an important person.

An example is a child who is being condemned by a teacher that he is a failure. The moment the child begins to see the reasons why he is a failure and accepts it, his zeal and potential die. The child begins to act like a failure because that is what he has accepted.

Now, so many questions are dribbling through your mind; questions like:

  • How do I know and recognize my value?
  • Am I actually worth something?
  • How do I increase my worth?
  • Can I ever be important?

All these questions are just right to have played through your mind and that is why this article is for you. Keep reading friend.

Have you ever tried to be friends with some greatly admired group of people but you just can’t because you feel they are better than you? Of course, it is advisable to find your league but you really don’t want to keep a league that will make no impact on your growth.

Many times, it is because you think less of yourself and tells yourself that you are worth nothing, whereas you have what they don’t have. So, until you make it known that you have what they don’t have, they won’t readily accept you. It means you should discover yourself.

Find reasons why you can be relevant to others. God has created us with so many unique features hidden like closed doors, the keys to the doors have been made with us, we just need to find the right key and open the right door. And when you open the right door, you find a lot of treasures in you

Even after finding the treasures, you must utilize them and not bury them, else, you become useless even to yourself.

Why you should appreciate yourself

Appreciating yourself is all about knowing yourself, having a relationship with yourself and complimenting yourself. There are so many cases of people who look down on themselves so much that they develop a severe inferiority complex and begin to hate themselves. Some go to the extent of taking risks just to fit into society.

Some go as far as hurting themselves, developing mental disorders and emotional breakdown, which leads to depression, and sudden death. Why should we live in misery when we have the keys to solving our problems embedded in us?

Depression and suicide have been the order of the society now because people begin to feel pressured and question their relevance to themself, the society and the world at large. They allow other people’s success stories to intimidate them rather than being motivated them. And that is why the youths are dying due to suicide and some even kill their conscience and begin to commit atrocities like ritual killings, armed robbery, internet fraud (popularly known as yahoo), etc.

Many people tell lies about themselves because they are ashamed of themselves, they cover lies with lies and fool themselves to forget who they are. The consequences, in the end, are always brutal.

Society may bring pressure; you just need to ignore the pressure and develop the person in you. All humans were created to fulfil a purpose and by that, so we can depend on each other to survive and cherish each other; thus, living the order in which humans should coexist.

Appreciating yourself boosts your self-esteem and gives you the confidence to portray who you are, what you can do, and how to remain relevant and become accepted by people. It is a sense of peace that brings joy from being able to utilize your potential and letting the world see you as you are.

Everyone comes to this world to fulfil one purpose or the other and every purpose is unique and different from person to person. A proverb says “The way you dress, you will be addressed”, it means people will carry you the way you carry yourself and treat you right if you treat yourself right.

Do not deny yourself the right to live in peace and of course, sometimes it takes courage depending on what kind of environment you are in, but if you love yourself, then you should not be ashamed of yourself.

It is time to start loving yourself. Show the world what you are made of, your uniqueness and charm. Tell yourself “I love me”.

Friend, I want you to stay tuned to this website because I will be sharing more about self-appreciation in subsequent week.

See you in the next post.
