The importance of a heartfelt apology cannot be overemphasized. Apologizing and being sincere about it can go a long way in healing, it is so soothing to the receiver.

It expresses remorse, and genuine empathy can be seen as regret for the wrongdoing and a promise to learn from one’s mistake, a sincere apology has the power to heal wounds, save marriages and even restore and strengthen relationships and families.

Hurt people hurt people, take your time to understand this statement. It is normal to be hurt and want to hurt others in return, hurting another might not always be intentional but apologizing has to be intentional as well as sincere, anything less may infuriate the receiver and further deepen the pain.

Why sincere apology matters

1. A sincere apology helps you understand the situation better and legitimize your pain or embarrassment even if others feel differently about the whole episode.

2. It takes a mature and responsible individual to know they are at fault and apologize when necessary

A sincere apology always includes the other party accepting responsibility for their action, inaction, or ignorance, and rendering a sincere apology helps you acknowledge your wrongdoing and accept the responsibility that comes with your wrongdoing thus, humbling you.

3. A sincere apology goes a long way in giving closure to all individuals involved, it becomes easier to forgive and forget after receiving a heartfelt apology. By apologizing you let go of any guilt or shame you might feel as a result of your wrongdoing to the other party.

When hurting you might feel insecure and uneasy with the other person because of what has transpired between you two but hearing words of remorse from that person helps you feel comfortable and secure.

5. A sincere apology carries genuine empathy and provides the opportunity for individuals to learn and never make the same mistakes. It helps you regret your wrongdoing and promise yourself to never act in that manner.

A sincere apology is just as good as your  expression. When offering the apology, ensure you offer to make amends when you are wrong and also ensure you do so using  words that fully depict how remorseful you feel.

Bear in mind that an apology doesn’t guarantee instant forgiveness or forgiveness at all, though I hope you get forgiven . Regardless, peacemaking is important.
