Hello there! I am Dr. Dada Joy, a medical practitioner and I will be your go-to man for health & fitness related contents on Hagios Akins.
Today, we’ll be discussing, ‘How to live a life of health, wealth and happiness’
To start with, what do you understand by good health? It simply means, the state of being free from illness or injury. You see, it is very important for you to take good care of your health and stay sound so you can live long.
An old but evergreen proverb coined by American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson in 1860 says “The first wealth is health” and I can’t agree more. This translates to you being in good condition both physically and mentally, be it a major or minor issue.
Minor health issues interfere and overshadow other aspects of your life, and relatively minor health issues such as aches, pains, lethargy, constipation, and indigestion to mention a few, takes a toll on your happiness, state of mind, and stress levels.
I want to remind you of your life dreams to live large, ambitions to be fulfilled, aspirations to be the best version of yourself, and goals to liberate your family into wealth. For you to achieve all these you would need to be in the best condition health-wise.
Reasons why you should be more conscious of your health;
To Live A Quality Life
This means the overall quality of life. When you are in good health, you will live a life of comfort, being able to do things without physical or mental restrictions.
Imagine for a moment that you’re suffering from ISCHEMIC STROKE which occurs due to blocked or narrowed arteries and leads to temporary disruption of blood flow to the brain, narrowed vessels could be due to deposition of cholesterol (atherosclerosis), which is a result of poor consumption of low-density lipoproteins.
This eventually leads to paralysis or loss of muscle tone, this restricts your movement which would hinder your productivity. All these can be prevented if you have a proper diet plan.
Improve Your Productivity
Productivity is the state of being productive and effective in what you do or your performances.

Inner peace, happiness, a good mood, and a sound mind are crucial to your performance and you can improve all these if you are healthy.
Improve Your Relationship
Everyone desires to be loved, feel loved, appreciated, and admired but it’s very difficult to admire a man with health challenges.
I mean, no one would want to use your life as a prayer point if you have any health challenge, you might struggle to have a partner as well. However, good health gives you self-confidence and boosts your esteem.
To Live Long
According to research, the average lifespan of a healthy human globally is approximately 75 years. Telegram. co has it that an unhealthy lifestyle can reduce your lifespan by 23 years, the cost of an unhealthy lifestyle is little exercise, poor diet, smoking, and lack of sleep, among others.

To wrap this up, here are the tips to living a long and healthy life:
- Eat a healthy diet for the right reasons: This is one of the most important things to take note of. Rather than eating right solely to look better in your jeans, you should also commit to eating foods that will boost your energy levels and keep your system running smoothly.
This is because what you eat cannot only impact your short-term and long-term health; it also affects your stress levels, it is much harder to cope with stress if you are hungry or malnourished. Hunger makes you emotionally reactive to stressors, leaving you irritable or even angry in the face of minor daily annoyances, watching what you eat can be a stress management tool as well as a health preserver.

Another reason to maintain a healthy diet is that your diet can affect your mood.
- Make sleep your priority: Sleep can have a serious impact on your overall health and well-being, commit to getting enough sleep at night. If you do not have adequate sleep, you may be less productive, less mentally sharp, and more prone to the effects of stress.
Some good habits that can help:
– Try to get a full eight hours of sleep each night
– Avoid caffeine after 2 pm
– Avoid eating foods in the evening that might disrupt your sleep
– Go to bed at the same time each night and wake up at the same time each morning
– Create a restful sleep environment, make sure your bed is comfortable and keep the room at an optimal temperature for sleeping (between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit)
– Adopt a calming technique such as meditation to help yourself relax each night before bed.
- Find a fitness habit that works for you: We’ve all heard the advice to eat right and exercise, but it can be difficult to fit in workouts around a busy schedule particularly when you’re feeling exhausted from stress.
One effective strategy for making fitness a regular part of your life is to build an exercise habit around your other habits, either attach a workout to your morning routine, your lunchtime habits, or make it a regular part of your evening.

If you make a morning jog part of your getting-ready-for-work routine, for example, it is much more likely to happen than if you wait until you feel like jogging and happen to have a free half-hour, especially if you lead a busy life like most of us and are tired at the end of the day.
Another important way to make exercise easier is to choose an activity that you enjoy, examples include walking while listening to an audiobook or attending a class at your gym where good music drives up your energy level. Finding an activity that you enjoy means that you are more likely to stick with it.
- Watch what you put into your body: Avoid putting unhealthy substances into your body. Nicotine, excess alcohol, and even excessive caffeine can take a toll on your health in the long run, but they also make you feel lousy overall in your day-to-day life.
It helps if you can avoid toxic thinking patterns from exacerbating your stress levels as well. Find healthier ways to manage stress, and you’ll enjoy double health and stress management benefits.
I can go on and on to list more benefits and reasons why you need to take care of your health, but I will like to wrap it up here with this quote which says: “When you have your health, you have everything. When you do not have your health, nothing else matters at all.”
See more of Augusten Burroughs’ quote here.
Best regards,
Dada Joy.
