It is the Christmas season again and it is exciting just thinking about it.
This season means different things to different people, for some, it is the most interesting time of the year, while for others it is the time of the year with the freest time, it is the busiest time of the year as it is the most celebrated festive season, but regardless of what this season means to you living healthy is super important.
During the Christmas season, overindulgence is a norm but you don’t want to overdo anything to ensure and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
So here are five health tips for a healthier Christmas season;

1. Eat healthy
It is so easy to overeat during the Christmas season, I mean, it is a season of goodwill and sharing hence, most families cook so much food (different delicacies) and it is almost obligatory to eat lots of food, however, it isn’t advisable to eat so much.
You should eat right and just enough to make a balanced diet. Do not overeat by taking so many cookies that you forget to include vegetables and fruits in your diet, also eat less caloric foods and increase your fiber foods.

2. Stay hydrated
It is important to take adequate amounts of water daily to stay healthy, it is expected that an average person should take 8 ounces of water daily.
Plain water is most needed to stay hydrated but you may also consume other fluids or fluids containing fruits and foods such as oranges, pineapples, and watermelon.
Drinking water is not easy for some people, some people even forget to do so, so it’s advisable you keep a water bottle with you all day, a time marked water bottle is preferable or you might decide to also set alarms on your phone to remind you to drink water.

3. Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep is essential to stay healthy. You should feel refreshed each time you wake up, though the hours of sufficient sleep vary among people one should get about 8 hours every day. You should never neglect your sleep time if you want to maintain optimal health.
If you have problems sleeping you should visit your doctor for medical assessment and advice.

4. Exercise your body
The benefits of good body exercise cannot be overemphasized. It helps blood circulation, strengthens the heart, muscles, and bones, it also helps to keep shape, and boosts self-esteem.
You can do outdoor exercises such as walking, jogging, hiking, skating, skiing, and even outdoor yoga, if you do not like outdoor exercises you may opt for indoor exercises such as dancing, push-ups, indoor yoga, and dumbbell squats to mention a few or you can visit the gym.
5. Do not stress yourself
The Christmas season is a very busy time with lots of things to do and preparations to be made to ensure a pleasant celebration. You could get caught up in thinking of all the shopping, cooking, visiting, cleaning to be done and money to be spent that you end up being so stressed over it all.

Take a chill pill, take the tasks one after the other, and do not overburden yourself, the celebration will be wonderful. You don’t need to worry yourself, just have fun while planning.
